Tempeh Girl Unveils New Incubator, December 2015
Tempeh Girl unveiled their new incubator last month. "This is an historic moment for Tempeh Girl, it marks the ability to increase production", says Beth May, owner of Tempeh Girl. The incubator, designed by Beth, provides both heating and cooling capacity. The ability to control the environment is a must for quality control during tempeh fermentation.
Tempeh is a delicious, fermented soy food from Indonesia. Tempeh Girl ferments their organic soybeans using a time honored two step fermentation process. The result is a solid cake with a mushroomy aroma and a mild, nutty flavor. Tempeh can be prepared many ways, including fried, steamed, boiled and grilled. Although pegged as a vegetarian food here in the states, Indonesians eat it almost everyday.
Tempeh Girl has been in business since 2011. Tempeh Girl uses only locally grown, organic soybeans sourced from Rocky Mount, NC. Strengthening the local food base has always been a driving force behind Tempeh Girl. We have been sourcing our beans locally since the 2012 harvest. We are proud to offer this local plant based protein!
