Tempeh Sausage Patties

These patties are cooked in the oven to make it easy.  Since they are cut slabs of tempeh, they work great in a biscuit!



1 lb tempeh
¼ c tamari
2 T brown sugar
2 T olive oil
2 T cider vinegar
1 T ground fennel
1 t basil
1 t majoram
1 t sage
1 t garlic powder
½ t red pepper flakes
1 c water    

1.    Slice tempeh in patty sized slabs and then split each patty into 2 of ½ thickness.
2.    Prepare marinade and add tempeh.  This can be done up to a few days ahead.  
3.    Heat oven to 350F.  Bake until marinade is almost absorbed, 20-30 min.  Flip and continue to cook until marinade is completely absorbed, about 10 more minutes.
